Dr. David J.A. Jenkins

Creator of the Glycemic Index
University of Toronto Professor

Dr. David J.A. Jenkins is an University Professor, and Canada Research Chair, in the Departments of Nutritional Sciences and Medicines, a staff physician in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, the Director of the Clinical Nutrition and Risk Factor Modification Center, and a Scientist in the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, St. Michael’s Hospital.

He was educated at Oxford University, obtaining his DM, DPhil and DSc. He has served on committees in Canada and the United States that formulated nutritional guidelines for the treatment of diabetes and recommendations for fiber and macronutrient intake under the joint US-Canada DRI system (RDAs) of the National Academy of Sciences. He believes that diets should be sustainable.

Douglas J. Lisle, PhD

Douglas J. Lisle, Ph.D., received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University Virginia, where he was awarded the Presidents Fellowship. He was then appointed Lecturer in Psychology at Stanford University, and conducted research at the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Palo Alto, California.

He is the co-author of The Pleasure Trap: Mastering the Hidden Force that Undermines Health and Happiness.

He is the psychologist for the TrueNorth Health Center, where he has served as Director of Research, and is also the psychologist for the McDougall Wellness Program, both located in Santa Rosa, California.

Dr. Lisle is the founder of an innovative system for supporting self-confidence and self-esteem known as Esteem Dynamics.

Library

Join us on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the new Central Calgary Public Library. We'll be holding the summit in the Performance Hall.

Accessing the library is easy! Feel free to choose to walk, bike, drive or take public transit.

The new Central Library, located at 800 3 Street SE (Calgary Alberta, Canada), is one block east of the former Central Library building and just behind City Hall. Lane and road closures around the East Village are listed on the EV Experience website.

Public bike racks will be located on all sides of the building, and bus routes 1, 10, 69, 75, 102, 103, 117, 125, 126, 133, 151, 300, 302, 305, and 411 stop within three blocks of the new Central Library. The closest CTrain stop is City Hall. Plan your route using the Calgary Transit trip planner.

Parking for new Central Library, Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, City Hall, and Arts Commons is available in the City Hall parkade accessible via 9 Avenue SE. There is also lots of street parking available in the East Village.

1) Where can I find parking?

There are a range of parking options:

Street Parking: The closest streets with parking are: 6th Ave, 9th Ave, 1st Street and 3rd Street.

Surface Lots: There are two lots - 4th Street and 9th Avenue.

Parkades: There are two parkades that are just a quick walk away - Bow Valley College and City Hall.

2) I'm planning on taking public transportation. How can I get to the Theatre?

The theatre is right next to the City Hall C-Train station. If your needing help with directions, check out Google Map.

3) Can I request a refund?

Sorry, we can't offer any refunds since this is a cost recovery event. Good news, you can always transfer your tickets to others. Just email us at: summit@forksmart.org.

6) Is there assigned seating?

Sorry, eating is not permitted in the theatre, however water bottles are allowed as long as they have a lid.
